Revealing Cheshire's Past

Revealing Cheshire's Past is a Heritage Lottery Funded project. Its aim is to increase access to the County Historic Environment Record (CHER).

The CHER is the database of all the known archaeological sites and finds in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington. It contains over 7000 records from prehistory to more recent times.

The project has created new ways for you to access this information.

A database allows you to find out more about individual archaeological sites and finds in the county. You can consult the database here or in libraries in Cheshire

Our community exhibition can be seen at libraries and community venues around the county. It provides an overview of the archaeology of Cheshire.

A traveling exhibition, showing some of the archaeological objects discovered in Cheshire, was shown at museums across the county from January 2006.

A series of fact sheets will help you find out about Cheshire's archaeology in more detail.

'Cheshire Rising' is the Revealing Cheshire's Past poem, written by John Lindley, Cheshire Poet Laureate, to launch the project in October 2004
